Water

Does water increase the metabolism?
Does water decrease appetite?
How much water is enough?

Without water people can live only a few days. It is necessary for survival after air. People of all ages need to drink plain pure water. Pure water is colorless, odorless, and tasteless.

Yes, it does. We need to give our body natural ability to burn off calories and process the food we eat. Because our vital organs need water to help them function, such as burning stored fat as fuel, controlling blood sugar, and utilizing calories for energy.

Our liver works with our kidneys. Our kidneys need plenty of water to operate properly, and if we are not drinking enough, then our liver has to double work. By doing this double duty, the liver is not able to effectively metabolize fat the way that it should and it often results in stored fat in your body. Water also is vital for chemical reactions in digestion and metabolism.  It carries nutrients and oxygen to the cells through the blood and helps to cool the body through perspiration.

Drinking cold water can help speed up your metabolism. Your body has to work to heat up the water, thereby increasing your metabolism. Be careful, don't caught a cold.

Many times people feel hungry when they are actually dehydrated. If you feel hungry, drink a glass of water then wait ten to twenty minutes and see if you are still hungry. If you’re not, it was actually dehydration. It is hard to distinguish between being thirsty and being hungry. Only water can really satisfy your thirst.

In fact, just try to drink a full glass before each meal you would automatically eat less. Sometimes when you get that hungry feeling it’s not hunger at all but thirst. Water is an appetite suppressant.

First of all listen to your body. Let the thirst be your guide of how much water you should drink.

The International Sports Medicine Institute has a formula for daily water intake:

1/2 ounce per pound of body weight if you're not active,

2/3 ounce per pound if you're athletic.
